Registration for this opportunity is exclusively available for Te Hiku businesses with fewer than 15 staff members. Please note that there is a limit of three registrations per business.
The First Aid Training is a full one-day course, facilitated by Shalom Education, with a total of 8 hours dedicated to teaching and assessment.
Topics Covered:
- Risks and hazards identification
- Accessing help in an emergency
- Basic Life Support (CPR) for adults, children, and infants according to the NZ Resuscitation Council Standard
- Safety measures
- Cross infection and bloodborne pathogens (such as Hepatitis and HIV)
- AED training and demonstration
- Patient assessment and treatment methods for various conditions, including choking, shock, stroke, unconsciousness, heart attack, bleeding, wounds, sprains and strains, fractures, burns, head injuries, heat exhaustion and heatstroke, hypothermia, poisoning, eye injuries, drowning, diabetes, asthma, seizures, anaphylaxis, tourniquets, concussion, and more.
- Contents and usage of a First Aid Kit, basic dressings, bandaging, and more.

This First Aid Training provides a valuable opportunity for businesses in Te Hiku to enhance their emergency response capabilities and create a safer working environment. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course, acknowledging their commitment to safety and preparedness.
This training will be facilitated by Shalom Education, which has been providing First Aid and Emergency care training in Te Hiku for over 30 years. Their courses are up to date with NZ Resuscitation (CPR) guidelines and are accredited by NZQA. Shalom Education is a proud, long-standing member of the Allied Emergency Medical Response (AEMR) group.
